The "default" display behaves like a smartphone. If you go to Settings / Display / Display size, you'll see that the display is set to "Default": drag the slider to the left or press minus and you'll get the Tablet display (and screen rotation).

Note that in Settings / Display you can also adjust the font size.

NB: You may need to restart the tablet.
